"Career 50+" Job Fair in Wrocław.

The Experience Today’s Business Needs.

Wrocław has proven that conversations about professional futures can happen anywhere—even between shopping and a coffee break. On October 10th, at Pasaż Grunwaldzki, we hosted Job Experience Day, our innovative “Career 50+” job fair. Together with hundreds of participants, we demonstrated that maturity in the labor market is not a problem, but a powerful asset waiting to be utilized.

This was not a typical job fair where people simply hand out flyers. We created a meeting space for those who believe that skills matter more than a birth date. Choosing a shopping center as our venue allowed us to reach people directly—those who often feel excluded from traditional, online-only recruitment processes.

The 45+ Barrier – Why We Take Action
Although our event is named “Career 50+,” the Heart & Mind Foundation opens its programs to everyone aged 45 and up. Our co-founder, Agnieszka Operhalska, emphasized in media interviews that this age has become a new, troubling threshold for difficulties in the labor market.

“As a foundation, we see that pre-retirement protection and recruitment barriers have shifted to age 45. Yet, these employees are invaluable to business: they are loyal, predictable, and reliable, she explained during an interview with TVP3 Wrocław.

Breaking Technological and Cultural Barriers

During Job Experience Day, we highlighted the mechanisms that currently block mature candidates:

Many CVs from 50+ candidates are rejected by ATS (Applicant Tracking Systems) before they ever reach a recruiter.

Companies are often hesitant to build multi-generational teams, despite the fact that these teams are the most effective at driving innovation.
We believe the experience of the 50+ generation is the foundation upon which younger generations can build new projects through mentorship and expert guidance.

Inspiration Zone and the “Path to Reskilling”

The Wrocław fair was buzzing with life thanks to unique formats that engaged participants:

Raw, unscripted conversations about stress and regaining self-confidence after facing job rejection.
Our experts and volunteers, including Marta Musioł and Ania Zdankiewicz, spent the day refining CVs and empowering participants to embrace change.
In the cinema halls, we taught storytelling (Joanna Rzadkowolska-Szechińska) and how to rediscover strengths after 45 (Wojtek Semmerling).
Our original “hopscotch” game allowed participants to practically explore career change paths, showing that it’s never too late for a fresh start.

Event Reach and Impact:

The Innovative Job Fair in Wrocław was a key milestone of our campaign promoting the “Career 50 Plus” program, which demonstrated the immense demand for new forms of recruitment:

The success of the Wrocław Job Experience Day and the program’s vision was reported by major media outlets, including Newsweek Polska, Business Insider, and TVP3.
Content promoting the entire program and its events generated a total of over 237,000 organic views.
driven by the engagement surrounding the project, the Heart & Mind Foundation ranked in the Top 3% of the most effective NGOs on LinkedIn in Poland.

Partners Co-creating Change

We thank the employers who recognize that age diversity is not just a CSR initiative, but a smart business decision. Joining us were: Impel Group, AXA XL, Żabka Polska, and Auchan Retail Polska.

We received immense support from institutional partners: the Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, the Starosta of the Wrocław District, and advisors from the PUP and DWUP in Wrocław. Together, we proved that out-of-the-box thinking about recruitment opens doors that were previously locked.

We are already planning our spring editions—because when something works this well, there’s no reason to go back to the old patterns!

Missed the fair? Remember, free professional advisors are available to help you at your local Labor Offices year-round.
